Make sure that it wasn't accidentally turned off. It could be a few things that are hopefully easily correctable.ġ) If you're on a laptop, some have a button that turns your wifi on/off. Just figured I'd add it.You didn't accidentally uninstall your NIC driver, did you? It's been a while since I went through troubleshooting network issues, so maybe I'm forgetting a simple step or two, but this is the direction I would go if my wi-fi stopped working. So perhaps this process will help someone else. Nothing seemed to happen, but then all of a sudden my wifi came back like magic. I right-clicked on it, and selected Scan for hardware changes. After checking all the services, I went into Device Manager, then network, and saw the wifi driver was in there. I rebooted, and still no wifi icon, just Ethernet. (was too lazy to move my pc to connect it by ethernet) First using my phone since I didn't have another pc, I downloaded the wifi driver for my laptop, then transferred it to my pc using a usb cord. All I had was the Ethernet connection icon and not the wifi anymore.Īfter a hair-pulling hour, this is how I managed to get it working again.

I don't know why, but installing the new graphic drivers messed with my wifi drivers. So for me, I installed a modded driver for my graphics card, everything went smooth, then I did the reboot and my wifi was gone. I know this is an old thread but I recently came across a similar problem, and wanted to explain how I got it working again.

The only option I can still think of was that the device broke at the exact moment I installed the new windows driver, but I find that a bit unlikely. I'm pretty much out of ideas by now, short of reinstalling. However, no wireless network can be found. 2014 would be the current one, picking the 2010 driver leads to the driver being accepted.

Next, I 'played' around a bit and reinstalled drivers, and I managed to install drivers from 2012, and when trying to update drivers manually and picking drivers that match the device, it lets me choose between drivers from 20. If I try to update the broken driver via internet, it tells me it is up to date, and in the device manager it still views as broken. It always tells me that installation failed when I uninstall and reinstall drivers. What I tried next was to uninstall the device from my Device Manager and install either the current drivers found through windows, then I tried the same with the current drivers on the HP driver page. The device said it was working, but did not get any wifi connection and did not discover any networks. I tried to do a system restore, which did not help getting wifi connectivity back. When installing said driver, it told me that the installation failed. The network is working as I tried it with my other mobile devices.

That caused my Wifi on my Notebook (HP ELitebook 2740p) to break. I naively installed a driver update incoming from Windows Updates yesterday.
